Bella was born in Forks, Washington to her then married parents, Charlie and Renee. At just 6 months old Renee, who had felt increasingly trapped in the small town life, decided to divorce and move her and her new baby to the large, bright city of Phoenix, AZ to spread her wings. There, Bella was raised or, rather, where she raised her flaky and eccentric mother. During her time in Phoenix, Renee managed to persuade her accident prone daughter to attend ballet lessons.
At seventeen, Bella made the decision to move back to Forks with her dad, despite her dislike for the small, rainy town. This gave her mother the opportunity to live the carefree lifestyle she desired with her new husband, Phil. Once again, putting others' happiness before her own. Initially, upon moving to Forks, Bella was unhappy. But, after attending school (which was another story itself -- why was everyone so fascinated with her!?) and coming across the mystery man that was Edward Cullen, she quickly learned that the small little town of Forks was actually quite bearable.
